K-8 Charter School

Support Our New School!

  • Arts Academy Elementary Charter School (AAECS), our K-5 charter school located in Allentown, has a 10-year history of success and is in need of a larger building.

Each year, hundreds of families are left on a wait list, due to the enrollment cap imposed by Allentown School District.

Each year, our 5th grade families share that they wish we had programming for middle school. This past October, a survey of AAECS families revealed that 100% of respondents, representing 50% of our families, were in support of adding grades 6-8.

As a result, the board of Arts Academy Elementary Charter School has decided to form a second charter school which will contain middle school grades. The board has asked members of the AAECS administration to run the new school.

While various options were reviewed both on the current property, and in other areas in Allentown, none were ideal for such an expansion.

A property was finally identified that offered the most space, with the least remodeling or construction required, in an ideal location, at a very reasonable cost. The new school will be located in the Bethlehem Area School District.

  • Research has shown that an arts-integrated education strengthens cognitive development, enriches literacy and mathematics learning, encourages collaboration, and enhances students’ abilities to express themselves constructively.

  • Our new K-8 school, Community Charter School of the Arts, to open in the 2027-28 school year, needs the approval of Bethlehem Area SD. Help us get this vote by showing your support by filling out and sharing our short survey!

Education built around Arts Integration

We believe exposure to the arts from a very young age is essential in developing children's natural sense of curiosity and creativity.

In addition to the core subjects of Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies, all students in K-8 participate in daily classes for visual art, music, dance, theatre and Creative Movement. Integrating the arts into our academic program only further enhances their ability to grasp new concepts, apply new skills and to make connections across content areas.

Our students experience field trips to the Allentown Art Museum, DaVinci Center, Miller Symphony Hall, Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, and the Arts Park!
