This is a list of our various Missions and Ministries

Opportunities to serve, whatever your interest or talent

Acolytes are children, youth and adults who, among other things, carry the Cross, torches and Gospel book in the processions of worship services.

The Altar Guild prepares the sanctuary for worship, and maintains our vestments, vessels, decoration and other church supplies.

Believe Out Loud is an organisation to which we are affiliated, which believes that “Jesus’ message compels us to welcome all, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity”.

Bible Study Group meets on Thursdays between 6:00 and 6:45pm to discuss the readings set for the following Sunday

The Choir under the direction of the choirmaster/organist leads our singing. Choir practices are held on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.

Christ Church School of the Arts offers music instruction to students of all ages, and arranged concerts and recitals.

Coffee Hour hosts a time of fellowship after each service on Sunday.

Community Meal is served at other area churches in Norwich that we support & assist with serving.

The Con Amici Singers is a group of people who love to sing, who meet at Christ Episcopal Church on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30pm. For more information call Susan James on (860) 237 1887.

Concerts and Recitals are arranged by the Christ Church School of the Arts several times a year. There is a classical serires and a Folk in the Chapel Series.

The Evangelism team encourages us to find ways of sensitively sharing our faith with others.

In 2013 a new series of concerts "Folk in the Chapel" featuring folk artists, such as Pesky J Nixon, Raina Rose and Rebbeca Loebe, was founded to contribute further to the cultural life of downtown Norwich and beyond. 

The Food Pantry collects non-perishable items for people in-need. It is open most Friday mornings (but not the 1st Friday of the month) from 11:00am to 12:30pm. Once a month, on the 3rd Sunday of the month, we hold a special collection for the food locker.

Holiday Food Baskets are assembled and donated for family feasts at holiday times, particularly at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers take Holy Communion to homebound parishioners.

Lay Readers lead the service of Morning Prayer on Tuesdays.

Lectors read the lessons and Prayers of the People on Sunday.

A local group of the Mankind Project (http://mankindproject.org/is an independent organisation for men that meets at Christ Episcopal Church on Wednesday evenings.

Ministers of Communion & Servers assist the priest at the altar and Communion rail during worship.

Newcomers Ministry invites new people and assists them with integration into the life of the parish.

Monthly communion service for the elderly are led by clergy and lay volunteers at the Norwichtown Convalescent Home and the Eliza Huntington Home on some Wednesday mornings.

The Property Committee oversees the care and maintenance of our historic church building and the Rectory.

We support the Vincent de Paul Place Soup Kitchen in Norwich.

Downtown Mic @ CEC is a monthly coffee house that meets at CEC and provides an opening for local musicians and artists.

The Parish Life Committee organizes social and fund-raising events throughout the year.

Stewardship is the committee that reminds us to show our gratitude for God's gifts to us and organizes an annual stewardship campaign.

The Sunshine (or Pastoral Care) Committee sends cards to parishioners and friends on birthdays, etc, and arrnges visits to housebound parishioners.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) is an independently run weight-loss group that meets at CEC.

Ushers & Greeters welcome and care for worshippers on Sunday morning.

The Vestry is the group of leaders elected by the parish to support the clergy and lead the Church.
